Over the years BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED has gained a reputation as being a highly professional training company.

The courses around personal safety & dealing with violence in the workplace have been taken up by the NHS, Councils, Housing Associations, Nursing Agencies & many more public & private organisations. With over 30,000 nursing staff to date & an average of 95% excellent ratings from our training evaluations, BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED is committed to delivering the highest standard of training.

The company, because of its excellent reputation, has also been consulted for various documentaries and interviews regarding dealing with violence & aggression in the workplace by the BBC (“Four by Four”), ITV (“This Morning”) & Discovery television (“Body Armour”), & has also been on various radio programs & has had articles in various magazines & journals.

Between them, all the BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED trainers have many years of experience in conflict/aggression management, breakaway & self-defence, control & restraint, weapon disarming training, & consultations on security techniques. The Trainers experiences range from the NHS, Local Government & Industry through to the Armed Forces. Our level one trainers have also attended the NHS CFSMS Conflict Resolution National Syllabus Familiarisation Seminar.

BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED uses trainers that are Members of the Institute of Conflict Management & who operate to the ICM Code of Practice. The ICM is dedicated to “Setting standards in the prevention and management of aggression and conflict.”

Basis Training (UK) Limited has been accorded ICM Quality Award Centre status (QAC Registration Number QAC2022). Basis Training (UK) Limited has fulfilled the criteria set out by the ICM Quality Award relating to:

Trainers facilitating courses also follow the NICE guidelines, and the All Wales NHS Passport. The Company is also a member of S.W.A.C.R.I. (South West Area Control & Restraint Instructors)

Classroom based theoretical Training

- Interactive participation using scenario- based learning
- Utilises a variety of teaching methods to achieve learning outcomes
- Encourages delegate participation through questioning and discussion

Physical Skills Training

- All techniques have been risk assessed according to a process within the ICM guidelines
- Only 3-4 techniques are taught which cover a vast range of workplace violence situations
- The techniques are user friendly
- All techniques are adaptable to delegates physique, ability, age and gender
- The training is carried out in a relaxed learning environment
- Those attending training are constantly reminded that physical skills are a last resort
- Emphasis is always placed on therapeutic response in physical intervention
- All Restrictive Physical Intervention techniques are graded from guiding and holding through to restraint and are adaptable to be used for children and frail elderly through to able bodied extremely aggressive adults
- As part of our Health & Safety policy we always use 2 trainers to a maximum of 16 delegates
