He has been involved in personal safety training for over 30 years, & is a qualified instructor. For the last 15 years he has run regular self-defence classes for various groups, and nearly ten years ago, saw a real need for courses in defusing & de-escalating situations & a simple style of self-defence and breakaway techniques, for people working with potentially violent and explosive natures.
Served in the Armed Forces and during his service, became interested in personal safety training. BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED was formed in 1996 with people of a like mind, with experience in personal safety training.
Over the years, he has been involved in teaching people from all types of professions in personal safety.
Having worked for 9 years on a psychiatric ward, John has had first hand knowledge of dealing with confrontational situations. John was also one of the founder members of the Institute of Conflict Management (ICM) the recognised steering group for the development of National Occupational Standards for employees facing aggression & violence. He is also completing his City & Guilds 7303 PTLLS in July 2010.

PHILLIP GREEN MICM (Reg) Cert. Ed. RGN:
Is a State Registered Nurse who has recently decided to pursue a career in training & has worked part time for BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED over the past eight years, and has now decided to pursue training as a full time career.
He has been successfully involved in Nurse Management, Education & Research in a variety of clinical settings within the NHS & within hospitals abroad in South Africa & the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Apart from the nursing Phil also has a vast amount of experience in the field of Personal Safety Training over the last 20 years.
He has recently successfully completed The Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Cert Ed.) and the 1886 City & Guilds Level 3 Deliverers of Conflict Management Training and the 1884 City & Guilds Certificate in Conflict Management. Phillip is an accredited ICM Physical Skills Tutor and a Physical Skills Assessor and a Physical Skills panel member. Phillip is awaiting the results of his NEBOSH due by the end of February 2010

SARAH DAVIES MICM Dip. COT
Sarah is a qualified Senior 1 Occupational Therapist, who has worked with a variety of clients, ranging from dementia, mental illness, & stroke patients. As an occupational therapist she has run many stress management & assertiveness courses for staff, management, & people suffering with mental illness.
She has been involved in personal safety training for ten years, & in that time has been involved in teaching self-defence to women. She is a valuable asset to the team as she offers the female perspective to training & techniques. Sarah is a full-time trainer/instructor with BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED.

DALE WOOD MICM (Reg)
Dale came into the company with a vast experience of dealing with people and has excellent people skills and has added a new dimension to the team. He comes from a background of working as an associate Pastor in a church with nearly a 1000 members for ten years.
Over a twenty year period Dale has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in teaching and training people from many different backgrounds on an individual and corporate level life principles and skills that improve and enhance a person’s quality of life.
Dale has a real heart for people and a passion and enthusiasm to see people empowered to reach their full potential in the workplace. Dale is growing in his role as a trainer and is eager to learn and gain as much experience as he can and is completing his City & Guilds 7303 PTLLS in July 2010.

Although Tony is the newest member of the team, he has a background in Personal Safety of over 20 years, having trained with John over that period. He is an excellent communicator and has settled into his role very quickly. Having had his own business previously he understands the importance of commitment, dedication, and hard work. During this coming year Tony will be enhancing his qualifications by completing the City & Guilds 1884 in conflict management, and the NHS SMS Conflict Resolution National Syllabus Familiarisation Seminar

PAUL GRONOW MICM (Reg)
Paul has had a vast amount of experience in dealing with customer service whilst working for Curry’s. He has as attended many customer care & aggression / conflict management training courses, whilst in his previous employment. He has always wanted to work in a training role, so when the opportunity arouse to join BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED, he took it.
He also worked on a voluntary basis for five years with adolescents and young children with learning difficulties for the Vale of Glamorgan council
Paul has fitted in well with the team & is always eager to learn and is currently working towards City & Guilds 7302 Delivering Education Certificate which then entitles him to go on to City & Guilds 1886 Level 3 Deliverers of Conflict Management Training accreditation.
He has recently just finished and obtained his NVQ level 3 in Customer Care.

RICHARD DAVIES MICM
Richard has been involved in coaching and training for around thirty years. His original coaching and teaching skills came through his involvement with ice skating, and has carried these skills over to personal safety training, which he has been involved in for the past 12 years. He is a qualified first aider and a qualified coach.
