Established in 1996, BASIS TRAINING (UK) LIMITED are specialists in delivering personal safety training to all staff who daily face the threat of verbal abuse and physical violence in the work place.
BASIS TRAINING employs trainers who are members of the Institute of Conflict Management (www.conflictmanagement.org), which is dedicated to “Setting standards in the prevention and management of aggression and conflict.” All our physical techniques have been risk assessed according to a process laid down by the Institute of Conflict Management.
The company has also been accorded ICM Quality Award Centre status (QAC Registration Number QAC2022) The company also has an accredited ICM Physical Skills Tutor who is a Physical Skills Assessor and is one of the Physical Skills Panel Members.
The company is an accredited centre for the delivery of City & Guilds 1884 and 1886 in Conflict Management Training Courses and is now able to offer the City & Guilds 1884 level 3 certificate in conflict management (physical intervention) if required and we are also accredited to deliver BTEC Level 3 Advanced Physical Restraint Practice Accredited Instructor, BTEC Level 4 PTLLS, NFPS Restraint & Breakaway Instructors Accreditationand are members of the South West Area Control & Restraint Instructors (S.W.A.C.R.I.) All our Conflict Management trainers that deliver training to the NHS have attended the NHS CFSMS Conflict Resolution National Syllabus Familiarisation Seminar & are able to meet the 10 objectives as identified by CFSMS relating to the Conflict Management National Syllabus.
We have NEBOSH Certificated trainers covering all aspects of occupational Health and Safety IOSH – Healthcare: Risk and Safety Management, and we will soon be delivering these courses

Classroom based theoretical Training

Physical Skills Training
As an approved NFPS Centre, we deliver the BTEC in breakaway & physical intervention training has a quality assurance by delivering training to Edexcel standards. We are also able to offer the City & Guilds Level 3 certificate in conflict management (physical intervention)
- All techniques have been risk assessed according to a process within the ICM guidelines
- Only 3-4 techniques are taught which cover a vast range of workplace violence situations
- The techniques are user friendly
- All techniques are adaptable to delegates physique, ability, age and gender
- The training is carried out in a relaxed learning environment
- Those attending training are constantly reminded that physical skills are a last resort
- Emphasis is always placed on therapeutic response in physical intervention
- All Restrictive Physical Intervention techniques are graded from guiding and holding through to restraint and are adaptable to be used for children and frail elderly through to able bodied extremely aggressive adults
- As part of our Health & Safety policy we always use 2 trainers to a maximum of 16 delegates
