At Basis Training, we know how important it is to have the tools you need to deal with unexpected situations in the workplace. Basis Training continually develop training to help people in the workplace deal with stressful situations, so that they can focus on their job. One course that can really help is the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA). Our PMVA course covers aspects such as conflict management, control and restraint as well as breakaway tactics.
“Our PMVA course was initially designed for nurses and others in the healthcare industry. However, it has since been apparent that PMVA training can help a range of different professions, industries and people such as those in retail and local authority roles. However, many people were unsure which course was right for them, which is why we have simplified our course approach to help people choose the right course for their needs.” John Davies, Director of Basis Training
With this in mind, we have several training options for PMVA, so which is the right one for you and your team? Don’t worry; help is at hand. We have simplified our training courses to make choosing the right training course as easy as 1, 2, 3.
PMVA Training In Three Courses
Course 1 – The Refresher
If you have already taken PMVA training but are looking to refresh your knowledge as well as update yourself with any changes to laws and legislation, the refresher course is ideal for your needs. The Refresher course is a one-day course that serves to update your training and give you a renewed sense of confidence to handle every situation.
Despite being a refresher course, the training will still cover breakaway techniques, restraint holds as well as encompassing the all-important ‘what ifs?’.
Course 2 – The Core Training
Our two-day Core PMVA Training Course is ideal for those who are new to PMVA. The course introduces the fundamental principles of PMVA and when it is appropriate to use the techniques. The workshop will help delegates to understand the importance of incident reporting and debriefing.
There are many practical elements involved in the training including the introduction of non-pain compliant methods of control as well as restraint and breakaway. At Basis Training we can tailor our Core Course to suit your industry and organisation to give you applicable and relevant examples and discussions.
Course 3 – The Core And Conflict
This Core+ course covers all of the aspects of the Core Training but also includes conflict management training. This is a 3 to 4-day course which gives delegates increased knowledge for enhanced confidence in their abilities. The course is ideal for supervisors and team leaders as well as those working in a high-risk environment.
The course extensively covers the legislation as well as advanced communication techniques and teamwork strategies.
