Times are tough. The UK is experiencing record numbers of Covid-19 cases and our healthcare system is on the brink. Not only are tensions running high, but tempers are fraying – but here at Basis Training we remain positive.
In 25 years we have been in business, this has been one of the hardest 12 months we have ever experienced. Understandably, we saw bookings drop overnight as the government issued the first lockdown back in March and we were forced to close our doors. Plus, we saw around 60 cancellations as organisations responded to restrictions, staff priorities shifted and access to training centre locations became tougher.
However, following a break during the first lockdown in 2020, we were pleased to be able to re-open our doors and offer training once again, thanks to our new covid secure methods. We also saw customers come back in steady numbers, particularly in the healthcare sector, where the risk of aggression towards to staff remained constant.
At the end of 2020 we also announced that we would be joining forces with the National Federation for Personal Safety (NFPS) – a membership body that would give both ourselves and our customers access to the very best services.
John Davies, Director of Basis Training, said:
“This will be a real turning point for our business and we are proud to be affiliated with the NFPS.
Basis Training already offers all our trainers trusted certification as well as the chance to speak to key figures in the industry. This enables our team to exchange ideas, ensure best practice and share the latest training methods. All trainers also receive updates on all industry legislations including those relevant to healthcare industry, the care sector and other retail staff legislations.”
Basis Training is pleased to continue to offer services. Where Health and Safety risk assessments deem it necessary, as well as where our clients are required to fulfil that obligation to staff. For example, in cases where the prevention of violence and aggression is paramount and the risk of assault is deemed high, there is likely to be legal obligation to ensure staff are kept safe.
